We're happy to introduce our newest Project Director, Michael Britt. Before joining us in San Antonio, Michael worked in Charlottesville where he also attended the University of Virginia for his M.Arch. He was a project manager for EcoMod, affordable and sustainable housing, which was recently featured in Architect Magazine . He has been told that he has "crazy sharp" vision (his ophthalmologist's official diagnosis), which means he can see twice as far as the normal person. This has apparently come in handy when he goes bird watching. Some other random tidbits about Michael: His spirit...
Our newest interns are joining us just in time for Flake Lato this weekend, where they'll get to know their fellow LFers really well and in a short amount of time. Here's what we know about our newest recruits so far: Joining our talented group of student interns, Melina Pereira is adding San Antonio to the laundry list of places she has lived. Melina was born in Sao Luis, Brazil, but has also spent time in Manaus, Brazil; Belem, Brazil; Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolovia; and Bogota, Colombia. She moved to the United States to attend school, receiving her B.F.A in Architecture from Savannah...

"While some may be intimidated by Oli’s tattoos or his silent demeanor, his British accent or the way he effortlessly pulls off a pair of new cowboy boots with skinny jeans, we here at Lake|Flato found him to be one of the nicest guys on the planet. We gave him the nickname “sweet angel baby”, and named our kickball team after him. Oli has always been quick to jump to lend a hand, whether helping manage the materials library, staying late to help out with a project deadline, building an arena out of cans for the food bank, or mentoring our high school intern. His enthusiasm for learning new...
Introducing the two recent additions to our crop of interns, Clay Cottingham and Joseph Dugan! Joseph joins us from Houston, where his BA in Architecture is in progress at the University of Houston. He also studied at Ecole Nationale Superieure d'Architecture de Paris La Villette in France...
"I may start calling her Mindy Matryoshka because just when you think you have her figured out, out comes another layer of talents and experience that you are convinced should belong to a whole nother person – she’s a Canadian farm girl, community mural artist, stellar cake baker, rock star designer, acclaimed speaker, and I am not sure what else…oh ya, an incredible and beautiful friend! I highly recommend getting to know her, especially if you have a birthday coming up!" - Laura Kaupp Hometown: Manning, Alberta, Canada Years at LF: 13 months Current Project: Olmos Park Residence and Baker...
“Each day I start my morning routine sitting down to breakfast at a RAD table outside under the giant pecan tree. The table’s beautiful craft and obsession to detail are evident even when groggily crunching on my granola. Ryan Anderson’s work transcends the industrial steel material palette he employs. RAD’s furniture has a lightness and sophistication while still being simple and comfortable. The steel creations are spare and elegant while still being burly enough to stand up to being outdoors in the Texas landscape. Working with Ryan and getting to know his knowledgeable team has been very...
