The City of San Antonio’s Center City Development Office has engaged Project for Public Spaces Inc. (PPS) to assist the City of San Antonio, the community, and area stakeholders in creating a concept plan for Travis Park. Initial meetings were held in March 2013 and PPS returned in May 2013 to present a proposed concept plan. Introducing the two recent additions to our crop of interns, Clay Cottingham and Joseph Dugan! Clay is originally from Panama City, Florida, where he discovered his love of hunting, camping and pretty much all things outdoors including spearfishing! He has one more year at Mississippi State University before he receives his Bachelor of Architecture. Clay's favorite LF project is the Rivercamps. Belgian artist Arne Quinze will be lecturing at the San Antonio Museum of Art on Tuesday, June 4 at 7pm, discussing his body of work and his new connection to our city. The Texas Coast is no stranger to the beatings of nature. The warm, shallow waters of the Gulf Coast make it primal territory for hurricanes to form and gain power. While the most recent coastal devastation was Hurricane Ike in 2008, rebuilding towns can take a decade or more. What Texans have seen instead is an increase in tropical storms and hurricanes, fickle industries, and a an abandonment of coastal areas. Bob, Tenna, and I just returned from Seattle for this year's Living Future unConference . It was a fantastic event and we can't wait to share all the new things we learned there. A new program that was "unveiled" at the event was JUST, a voluntary disclosure program that produces an equity "nutrition label" on organizations that participate. Lake|Flato has already signed up to participate in the initiative and we encourage you to do the same!
