Lake|Flato Designing Mixed-Use Development for Hemisfair Park Transformation

February 2016
We are currently working on the design of a new mixed-use development overlooking San Antonio’s Hemisfair Park transformation project. The development includes 163 apartment units and 3,200-square-feet of street-level retail and restaurant space. The project is slated to be completed in time for San Antonio’s vibrant Tricentennial Celebration, commemorating the city’s 300th anniversary. Read more about it.

Ted Flato Presenting at UTSA 2016 Great Conversation Program

Ted Flato is presenting at this year’s 2016 Great Conversation Program hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio on February 23rd. The Great Conversation Program, which supports the UTSA Honors College, is an annual event that hosts community leaders to facilitate conversation on diverse topics. Ted’s talk will focus on pinpointing reasons that creating regional architecture is important to embracing sustainable design in a way that remains authentic to local craft and culture. The Millennial Social Initative

Join Bob Harris on February 9th for a panel discussion hosted by the Dallas Architecture Forum focusing on The Millennial Social Initiative. Moderated by Bob, who led the efforts on The Dixon Water Foundation Josey Pavilion – a 1+ program – the  panel will explore the rise of millennial interest in design that fosters social responsibility while simultaneously bridging boundaries among disciplines, demographics and neighborhoods. “Largely rooted in urbanism and healthy living, this generation will discuss and debate the idea that socially responsible design is an attitude that emphasizes needs and experiences of people over concerns of form or aesthetics.” Learn more about the event.

ASU Health Services Building Named as a ULI Top Smart Green Building

Urban Land Magazine recently ranked the LEED Platinum Arizona State University Health Services Building as #2 on its Top Smart Green Buildings List, featuring projects completed in the last five years. The rehabilitation of the outdated, 1950-s era clinic into a functional, daylit and high performance health services center promotes campus wellness while reflecting the university’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2025. The Dixon Water Foundation Josey Pavilion was recently listed on The Best Architecture of 2015 list by The Wall Street Journal in celebration of this year's top buildings. Highlighting Josey's simple and natural design, the article conveys that this year's best buildings "proved that architecture doesn't have to be loud to be important" and that "connection to beautiful architecture can lead to caring and a desire to preserve and conserve one’s surrounding."
