Knox College Whitcomb Art Center Receives Metal Building Design Award

Andrew Herdeg Speaking at AIA Florida Convention

Houston MATCH Receives ULI Development of Distinction Award

The Midtown Arts & Theatre Center Houston (MATCH) was recently honored with the 2017 Development of Distinction Award from the Urban Land Institute Houston Chapter. The Development of Distinction Awards is an annual distinguished award program that recognizes developments which exemplify best practices in design, construction, economic viability, marketing, management and make a positive impact on community health. MATCH was one of six honorees named as part of the 10th annual awards program. “The cultural anchor for Midtown was designed to meet the needs of Houston’s 540 cultural arts groups. With 46,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor multi-use theatrical and exhibition space, including four theaters, the MATCH facility marks a significant cultural contribution to Houston and was designed with the organization’s mission of neighborhood revitalization by working with amenities such as easily accessible public transportation and walkability of the surrounding landscape.” ULI Awards Jury

Pearl Brewery Development Named as ULI Global Awards for Excellence Finalist

June 2017

The Pearl Brewery Development has been honored as a finalist in the 2017 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Awards for Excellence. Pearl is one among 25 extraordinary developments from around the world that have been selected as finalists for this award, widely recognized as one of the land use industry’s most prestigious award programs. This year’s finalists include three located in Asia, two in Europe, and 20 in North America. 

“Each of these finalists demonstrates a thoughtful, innovative approach to urban development that is adding to the sustainability and livability of the communities in which they are located,” said Wendy Rowden, Global Awards jury chairman and president, 42nd Street Development Corp., New York City. “The attention paid to project detail, flexible design, and neighborhood context were among the factors making these entries stand out. Todd Wascher Presenting at 2017 ULI Texas Forum

Associate Partner Todd Wascher, AIA, LEED AP BD+C is presenting as part of the 2017 Urban Land Institute Texas Forum. The annual forum welcomes Urban Land Institute members from across Texas, sharing San Antonio’s newest and future developments and celebrating the city’s upcoming Tricentennial in 2018. Todd will provide a tour of The New Witte Museum & Mays Family Center as part of the forum’s Cultural Placemaking session and discuss efforts made by Lake|Flato in the phased masterplan and design of new facilities and event center for the museum. Debakey High School for Health Professions Celebrates Grand Opening

June 2017

Debakey High School for Health Professions opened on June 1st. Debakey High School was founded in 1972, as a partnership between the Houston Independent School District and the Baylor College of Medicine, as the first high school focused on science and the healthcare profession. The new 194,000 sq ft, five-story building designed by Lake|Flato in collaboration with WHR, creates a new home for the school within Houston’s prestigious Texas Medical Center and features mock hospital rooms, science and research labs, medical training equipment and teaching labs for dentistry and rehabilitation and patient care. “This new building gives our students not only a state-of-the-art building they can learn in, but it also gives them the ability to walk across the street to Texas Children’s Hospital or TIRR Memorial Hermann,” said Agnes Perry, DeBakey HSHP principal. Read more about Debakey High School, here.
