Sustainable Urban Development Luncheon

On August 1st AIA San Antonio will be presenting the 3rd Annual Sustainable Urban Development Luncheon. Chaired by Lake|Flato's own Tenna Florian at Lake|Flato's own Briscoe Western Art Museum. The subject of the luncheon will be Architecture 2030: The Rise of 2030 Districts. The event's keynote speaker will be Architecture 2030's founder and CEO Ed Mazria. Mazria is an award winning architect who is committed to making the field of architecture more responsible and more sustainable. The building sector is, after all, responsible for nearly half of all U.S. energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Architecture 2030 is a non-profit established in 2002 that aims to change this and achieve a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions produced by the building sector. The 2030 District concept takes Architecture 2030 to the next level from single building thinking to whole urban districts. Pretty cool right? Register for the luncheon here. Lake|Flato believes in the goal of Architecture 2030 which is why our office has been participating in the 2030 Commitment. The 2030 Commitment is a challenge set forth by the American Institute of Architects to meet the 2030 Challenge. We've been working on collecting and disseminating our progress in this challenge which we can't wait to share with you soon!
