Midnight in Mexico

The San Antonio Book Festival and the Library Foundation will host Alfredo Corchado, author of Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter's Journey Through a Country's Descent into Darkness next Monday, June 24. The event will be a discussion led by Corchado and author of Everything Begins and Ends at the Kentucky Club, Benjamin Alire Saenz.  The event will be held at the Central Library on 600 Soledad. Reception and book sales start at 6:00pm, followed by the program at 6:30pm. It is free and open to the public. About the Author:  Alfredo Corchado, Mexico bureau chief for the Dallas Morning News, is a noted expert on immigration, drug violence, and foreign policy between the U.S. and Mexico. Over the years Mr. Corchado has exposed government corruption and the reach of Mexican drug traffickers into U.S. communities. He has described the perils that journalists face and the disturbing result: an increasingly silent Mexican press.
