Carraro Residence
Kyle, TX
When the Alamo Cement Plant in San Antonio was being demolished to make way for the Quarry Marketplace, Lake Flato encouraged the owners to consider rescuing a 180’ long 1920’s steel framed building. A deal was struck and the building was disassembled and trucked to 40 acres near Kyle, Texas. The building was re-erected as three separate bays in a Z-shaped configuration around the existing oak trees: an open equipment shed, a corrugated metal clad master suite and a Texas sized screened porch with an air-conditioned limestone structure within, all with views to the river below.
