Houston Arboretum
Houston, TX
Recovering from the effects of a hurricane and drought within the last five years, the Houston Arboretum is in the process or restoring their site to its natural state. The new landscape scheme transitions from what is now completely forested to a range of habitat types, ranging from prairie to savannah to woodlands and the denser riparian ravines. In addition to landscape restoration, three new buildings will occupy the site: a visitor center, education pavilion, and maintenance facility. The visitor center is designed for occupants to enter with a framed view of the prairie, move along a bar through the woodlands, and finally look out at the ravine. In association with Design Workshop.
